YOUNG STARTERS: Foundations in Motorsport

Designed for the young driver in mind, Young Starters gets your teen in the drivers seat for a day of coaching under the guidance of an experienced racing coach.

Our focus is on providing a supportive learning environment, where safety and skill development take precedence. 

What to Expect

Each Young Starters session includes one-on-one coaching, car hire, track day entry, and day license, ensuring a comprehensive and tailored experience. Starting with basic handling skills, your coach will take you through car control, basic racing lines and racing ettiquette.

Schedule for the Day

• 8:00 Arrive @ Pheasant Wood Circuit, Sign-on
• 8:30 Seat fitting, in car familiarity
• 8:45 Track walk & Safety briefing
• 9:15 Sessions begin
• 12:15 Lunch
• 1:00 Sessions begin
• 2:30 Day Ends

Track Car Hire Tailored to your Skills

Start your day off in the Mazda 2 track car and learn fundamentals and get to know the track. Once you are more confident, jump in the popular Mazda 3 track car and kick it up a gear. Depending on your experience your coach will tailor your car hire to your driving needs, allowing you the freedom to develop your skills!

About Pheasant Wood Circuit

Nestled in the picturesque Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Pheasant Wood Circuit is a premier racing facility known for its challenging layout and exceptional amenities. A technically challenging track, the tarmac boasts 9 corners over 1.6km with NSW's only two banked corners. This state-of-the-art track provides the perfect setting for novice drivers to hone their skills and experience the thrill of motorsport. Spectators are welcomed and comfortable with access to a spectator stand and picnic area. Vending machine available onsite. Address: 8 Prairie Oak Road Marulan. 

Personalised Coaching 

One-on-one driver coaching is fundamental to a successful start in motorsport. Our qualified race coach will be with you for the entirety of the day, ensuring personalised attention and guidance every step of the way. Your coach will tailor the day to your experience and development, taking you through the basics of car control, racing lines, and racing etiquette. Through a mix of in-car coaching, sighted laps, and coach-driven passenger sessions, you'll gain invaluable insights and skills. Your coach will also provide guidance on how to further your skills and where you can go next in your motorsport journey.

Driver Requirements

Min 14 yo 

FIA Approved helmet

Long pants & Long sleeve shirt

Racing shoes or thin sole shoes

Manual driving experience neccessary

*Helmet hire is available $35 please advise

Minimum Track Day License Required: Available at the track for $35 (one day).

Licenses Accepted: AASA and Motorsport Australia Licenses.

Parent or Supervisor must remain onsite for the day

Food & Drink:

- Please BYO food; the town of Marulan is 5 minutes away and has plenty of cafes and a well-equipped IGA
- Bring plenty of water – drinking water is not available onsite. We recommend bringing Hydrolyte to ensure you keep adequately hydrated

- RaceAway reserves the right to change to a session day to suit the proficiency of drivers at that track day and ensure client safety

- Track waiver & Driver waiver must be read and signed before getting onto the track
- Days run in all weather conditions; in the unlikely event of cancellation or change, we will do our utmost to contact you via email/phone/text/Facebook
- Cancellations: Refunds are not available; however, we are able to arrange a transfer to another date. Transfers must be advised at least 7 days prior to the date. Cancellations after this date will result in a forfeit of all fees paid. Transfers must be completed within 6 months of the original course date. Refunds for cancellation or non-attendance are not available.
